Golf Course Grow In Instructions
Our Hydroseeding Warranty

North Shore Hydroseeding is our division servicing residential, commercial and municipal properties - plus athletic facilities and golf courses all over Massachusetts and beyond. We all have extensive turf and golf course training and take tremendous pride in every project we undertake. Golf course superintendents, landscapers, and homeowners alike use North Shore Hydroseeding because of the high quality turf, quick results and superior service we are known for.

WHAT IS HYDROSEEDING?

The hydroseeding grass planting process applies a combination of seed, water, fertilizer and mulch to prepared ground to produce uniform grass coverage quickly. The water-retaining mulch keeps the seeds moist, prevents erosion from wind and water and provides nutrients. Plus it helps maintain optimum soil temperature. However uniform irrigation must be maintained throughout the germination process to insure a good result.

We use only the finest seeds, fertilizers, mulches and weed control. Our equipment is state-of-the-art. We work closely with landscapers, property supervisors and golf course superintendents, providing detailed instructions for irrigation and ongoing turf management. We do not walk away from a project - instead we offer a total lawn care program to insure success from grow-in and beyond.

GROW IN INSTRUCTIONS:
HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR NEWLY HYDROSEEDED LAWN

Watering
(*Important - Please avoid late evening and nightime waterings for the first 25 days after seeding. Longer may be necessary if establishment is slower.)

Thoroughly moisten lawn areas with slight drying between additional waterings! When temperatures are 85 degrees or above, you should water approximately 3 - 5 times per day between the hours of 6:00a.m and 7:00p.m. When the temperatures are cooler, 3 times a day or less should be adequate depending on the moisture content of the mulch, seed and soil conditions. You must change your watering technique and adjust it according to the fluctuations in the weather. Do not over water to the point of standing water. Continue to moisten lawn area, but avoid puddling, run-off, surface erosion and channeling. Remember also that these set times may have to be decreased as the days go by, due to the soil becoming saturated. On the 25th day, (if lawn has been mowed twice and has thickened-up) you should be able to return to a normal watering schedule. Try to water early in the morning when evaporation is lower and there is less likelihood of sun scorching. Since the root depth of these grasses extends 9 - 30 inches, you are encouraged to keep watering at regular intervals. The frequency depends on your soil type and root depth. Sandy loam absorbs water rapidly and dries out quickly. A clay soil, on the other hand, absorbs water slowly and dries out more slowly.

Climate and season affects watering frequency. A safe rule of thumb is to water deeply for long intervals (for established lawns). This lets the moisture penetrate to the full depth of the roots. Shallow watering evaporates before moisture and nourishment can reach the root structure.

Slime Mold
Slime Mold is a condition that is created on top of the soil. The soil discolors to medium/dark green, or orange color. This condition will negatively effect the germination and growth of your newly seeded lawn. The condition itself is caused from too much water. If slime mold becomes a problem allow the effected area to dry-out but remember some moisture is needed for continuing germination. We recommend that you contact a Turf Professional for a product that would control slime mold.

Fertilizing & Weed Control
Your lawn should be fertilized in 30 - 45 days or when growth begins to slow down. 16-16-16, 15-15-15 or something similar is recommended. We suggest you contact a local turf care specialist for an annual program. North Shore Hydroseeding is not responsible for any weeds that come in with the new lawn. If weeds do occur do not use weed control products until after the 3 or 4th mowing.

Mowing
Mow your new lawn when over 50% of your lawn reaches a height of 2.5" - 3". For best appearance, cut no more than 1/3 of the leaf at each mowing. Fescue should be mowed at a height of 2" -2.5". During the growing season, once the 1st mowing is completed (first mowing should be between 14 & 21 days after seeding) you should mow every 4 - 6 days. This frequency will be necessary for the 2nd - 5th cuttings. After the 5th cutting you can back off to once every 7 days.

IMPORTANT SUGGESTIONS:
1). Sharpen Lawn Mower Blades
2). Thoroughly wash mower prior to mowing new lawn. This will help eliminate any possibility of spreading weed seeds, fungal spores and other potential diseases.

You can expect your lawn to look like established turf in approx. 30days(weather permitting), with minor exceptions of small sparse areas that will continue to fill in. The mature seedlings will knit together and thicken up each time you mow. You will need to mow 3 - 5 times before the lawn will look lush and thick. We recommend that you use a grass catcher when you mow for the first 2 months, after this you may use a good mulching mower if desired. Small bare areas are usually caused from the seed drying out too much or being flooded and washed away. These areas will have to be re-seeded to introduce new seedlings for growth.

Diseases
North Shore Hydroseeding is not responsible for any diseases in your new lawn. It is best to call a Professional to get advice. All reseeding will be charged at a maximum of 75% of the original square footage price with a minimum of $150.00. This will include re-seeding due to fungus, disease, slime mold, inadequate watering, flooding areas which washes away the seed, channeling of water down a slope because of too much moisture, sprinkler problems associated with the Homeowner or Contractor, weed takeover caused by seeds drying out, animals or activity that disturbs the seed bed, etc…

If the watering technique is followed routinely to allow as much germination as possible and with proper maintenance - you're on your way to establishing a happy, healthy lawn.
